Mahin Karim is Vice President for Political and Security Affairs (PSA) at NBR.

As Vice President for PSA, Ms. Karim manages NBR research programs on political and security issues in Asia. In collaboration with the PSA team, she creates and pursues business opportunities for NBR’s PSA group, determines significant and emerging issues in the field, oversees project teams, and is responsible for the successful growth of group activities.

Ms. Karim specializes in the politics and cultures of Muslim societies in Asia. Her areas of interest include transnational terrorism and security, political Islam, and the international relations of South, Southwest, and Central Asia. She has lived and traveled extensively across Asia.

Ms. Karim holds an MA in International Studies, with a concentration in Central Asian studies, from the University of Washington’s Jackson School of International Studies and a BA in International Relations and Modern Languages, with a minor in Asian studies, from Beloit College, Wisconsin.
