Congressional Outreach

Congressional Outreach is integral to NBR’s mission. Through customized research, congressional testimony, and regular counsel and briefings on a diverse range of topics, NBR’s demand-driven engagement strategy provides Congressional members and their staff with a balanced perspective on key developments relating to U.S. policy in Asia. This relationally intensive approach is characterized by sustained personal interaction in high-trust, neutral, bipartisan briefings to Congressional members and staff.

Executive Branch Outreach

NBR relationships with members of the executive branch of the United States are core to NBR’s work of bridging academics, businesses, and policymakers for strong and well-informed Asia policy. Through experience and knowledge cultivated by both long-standing and developing U.S. government partnerships, NBR is able to tailor its research agenda to provide advanced research on the challenges and opportunities facing the United States in Asia. The establishment of The John M. Shalikashvili Chair in National Security Studies further cemented NBR’s role in providing topnotch support to the US national security policy making community.

Strategic Asia

The Strategic Asia Program is a major ongoing research initiative that draws together top Asia studies specialists and international relations experts to assess the strategic environment in the Asia-Pacific and to examine the strategies and perceptions that shape policy in the region. The program produces an annual volume, an executive summary, an online database, and briefings.

Pacific Health Summit

The Pacific Health Summit is an annual, invitation only event that welcomes top leaders from across the globe to Seattle to discuss a critical issue in global health. The mission of the Summit is to connect science, industry, and policy for a healthier world through the effective utilization of scientific advances combined with appropriate policy.
